Tanagh Community, |
Tanagh, Cootehill. The Community of Tanagh, Cootehill currently consists of four members of the Sacred Hearts Congregation:
Fr Pearse Mullen ss.cc. originally from Donegal Town, spent many years as a missionary in Japan and is a recent addiction to the Tanagh community from where he will assist with parish ministry and also provide a weekly Eucharist in some of the nursing homes in the Cavan/Monaghan area.
Fr Peadar Cronin ss.cc. (a west Cork native,) has spent the majority of his years in High School and Parish ministry in California.
An attached and former member of the Tanagh community is Fr Kieran Murtagh, who originally hails from a few miles away, near Smithborough. Having spent most of his life in England, (as a social worker and in parish work,) Kieran returned home to Tanagh after he retired. Having a few health issues, Kieran now resides at the Drumbear Lodge Nursing Home in Monaghan Town.
Also attached to the Tanagh Community is Fr Michael Gilsenan ss.cc. who ministers in the Parish of Cootehill with specific responsibility for St Patrick’s Maudabawn. Fr Michael is also chaplain to the ‘Holy Family’ special needs school. Our photos show Fr Michael outside St Patrick’s Church and Our Lady’s Grotto, Maudabawn.
